Koi Pond Heating cautionary note!
Providing heat to your koi is a great way to enjoy them year 'round while maximizing their health. Heaters, no matter how reliable, are mechanical products and subject to service interruptions. If you choose to heat your pond we recommend that you have a redundant system. In other words, have a back up heater on hand in case of mechanical failure of your heater. When a pond does not have artificial heat the koi are allowed to gradually adapt to the increasingly colder water. On the other hand, if your heater goes out when ambient temperatures are frigid, the water cools too quickly for the koi to adapt.
